Sk: Na jar bola Bratislava plná života.
En: In the spring, Bratislava was full of life.
Sk: Na veľkom dvore sirotinca sa deti smiali a hrali pod modrou oblohou.
En: In the large courtyard of the orphanage, the children laughed and played under the blue sky.
Sk: Stromy začali pučať, zem pohltilo teplo.
En: The trees began to bud, and the ground was engulfed with warmth.
Sk: Deti zo sirotinca boli nadšené, pretože sa blížilo Deň práce a s tým aj veľký šporotvý deň.
En: The children from the orphanage were excited because Deň práce was approaching, and with it, the big sports day.
Sk: Medzi deťmi bol dvanásťročný Michal.
En: Among the children was twelve-year-old Michal.
Sk: Bol premýšľavý a s dobrým srdcom.
En: He was thoughtful and had a good heart.
Sk: Jeho najväčšou túžbou bolo mať raz vlastnú rodinu.
En: His greatest desire was to one day have a family of his own.
Sk: Tento deň však mal inú ambíciu – chcel vyhrať súťaže.
En: However, on this day, he had another ambition – he wanted to win the competitions.
Sk: Veril, že ak vyhrá, dokáže iným, ale aj sebe, že za niečo stojí.
En: He believed that if he won, he could prove to others, and to himself, that he was worth something.
Sk: Na tento deň sa chystali aj staršie deti zo školy v okolí.
En: Older children from the nearby school were also preparing for this day.
Sk: Cvičili a pripravovali sa už týždne.
En: They had been practicing and preparing for weeks.
Sk: Michal si v duchu opakoval: "Môžem to zvládnuť.
En: Michal kept repeating to himself, "I can do it."
