Description

We begin the season on Lent in the Catholic Church. We recall that the Church helps us to contemplate and incarnate the life of Jesus Christ. So she brings us through the various phases of his life. We began with His birth by preparing for it with the Advent Season. We then contemplated Jesus in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, delivered when the fullness of time arrived, His infancy, His childhood, His adolescence and so forth. We tried to incarnate the qualities and virtues of Jesus as He went through these stages. We are now preparing for the Easter Season when we contemplate Christ's victory over death. To help us prepare for this most important mystery we have the season of Lent. About 40 days are spent in it. We thus prepare ourselves by contemplating and striving to practice the virtues Our Lord exemplifies during His Public Life leading up to Calvary.
