Description

The Gospel in today's Mass tells us the story of Jesus about a landowner, hiring at different times of the day workers for his vineyard. He agrees to pay the first batch a denarius each for the day's work. When paying them arrives at the end of the day, he gives one denarius to the latest ones hired. So, the earlier employed thought they would receive more. But they also received one denarius each. So, they grumbled about the owner being unfair. He clarifies to them that he was not unjust, since he paid them what they had agreed to earlier in the day. That he wanted to give more to the other late workers was up to him and to his generosity. So, this is also the case with God. He loves both those who love him from the first moment to the end, and, those who got converted to Him much later. He is most generous. There is no unfairness with this arrangement because they all were on the same page regarding Heaven as the reward.
