The Lord addresses today a prevalent concern we all suffer from in this fallen world of ours. That is about a tinge of doubt lurking in our consciences about the goodness of God. This originates from the way the demon or serpent deceived our first parents. He gaslighted them. Although God forbade them from eating of a certain fruit in the garden of Eden, the devil made it appear that God was withholding a secret from them. It was a secret source of power capable of empowering them to become like gods. God wanted to give them a hard time, keeping them in the dark. They took the bait and they realized the deception too late. So, the devil in that possessed man scream to the Lord approaching him, "Have you come to destroy us?" Of course, the archenemy of God interprets it that way because he is essentially unwilling to do God's bidding. We also play out this role when we doubt His goodness and His plans for us. Will He really keep His word to us? We conquer this temptation by making acts of faith, hope and love.
