Description

Tony Viola was one of 1,000 people indicted by a multi-jurisdictional Mortgage Fraud Task Force. Mark Bennett and Dan Kasaris accused Tony of orchestrating what they called the "Nation's Largest Mortgage Fraud Scheme", he was charged with allegedly deceiving banks like JP Morgan into granting 'no money down' mortgage loans and stealing $46 million dollars. Tony was found guilty on federal charges on April 1st, 2011. But that’s not the full story.

In 2012, Tony would face the same charges on the state level. From his jail cell, without legal representation, Tony uncovered evidence withheld by the Justice Department, leading to his acquittal and shedding light on the potential innocence of many others prosecuted by the task force. Tony would never have been exonerated without the evidence provided by whistle blower, Dawn Pasela. Learn more about who Dawn was and the critical role she played in proving Tony’s innocence.
