Arthur could remember how the very first encounter he had within the King in Yellow went; he was broken, bleeding, and had been thrown into the middle of a New England blizzard without warning. The cold had been so all-encompassing, so sharp, like he was being embalmed alive.
As he heard the sniffles and gentle sobs from the room ahead, it was like that blizzard was being poured into his very soul.
