Description

When parents lose a child to a crime, medical negligence, or some other reason when someone is a fault, the first question they get asked is, "Will you ever forgive the person who did this?" Why is it that the burden to forgive falls on the parents? Forgiveness should not be the first response. The first response should be compassion and understanding for the parents who experienced unimaginable loss.

In this episode, we continue to unpack the idea of forgiveness and the myths surrounding it. Forgiveness is a deeply personal thing, and while there can be healing that takes place under certain conditions, it is not a fix-all solution. Grief is very complex and there is always a lot to unpack. It takes years to come to grips with the reality that our child is gone and is not coming back. Our hearts always go out to parents who lose children and we believe there is a more sensitive way to help each other through the grief journey.
