Animal-loving writer and TV/film worker Steve Miranda grew up loving The NeverEnding Story, but he hadn't seen it in roughly 30 years and his memory of the film was surprisingly hazy. Could his aversion to revisiting this film have been because part of him knew it wouldn't hold up, or would the smash international hit prove to have much more going for it than he'd have guessed? Was its reliance upon practical effects and a largely unknown cast going to be a credit to the film and director Wolfgang Petersen or would Steve be left to wish he could escape this rewatch on the back of Falkor?
