On November 26th in sports history, one significant event took place in 1989 when the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the 77th Grey Cup, the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The game was played at SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Roughriders, led by quarterback Kent Austin and running back Tim McCray, faced off against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a thrilling matchup. Saskatchewan had finished the regular season with a 9-9 record and entered the playoffs as underdogs, while Hamilton had posted an impressive 12-6 record.

In the championship game, the Roughriders got off to a hot start, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead. However, the Tiger-Cats fought back, narrowing the gap to 14-10 by halftime.

The second half saw both teams trading blows, with the lead changing hands several times. With just over a minute left in the game, Hamilton held a slim 40-37 advantage. Saskatchewan had one final chance to mount a comeback.

In a dramatic finish, Kent Austin led the Roughriders down the field, completing several clutch passes to move his team into scoring position. With just seconds remaining on the clock, Austin connected with wide receiver Don Narcisse in the end zone for a 35-yard touchdown pass, giving Saskatchewan a stunning 43-40 victory.

The game was an instant classic and is still remembered as one of the most exciting Grey Cup matches in history. Kent Austin was named the game's Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance, passing for 474 yards and three touchdowns. The victory marked the second Grey Cup championship for the Saskatchewan Roughriders franchise.
