It sounds obvious but everyone is different. Everyone is motivated by different things and has different habits. For example, Sarah loves finding shows on Netflix that have a lot of seasons. It gets her excited that she'll have something to watch for awhile. Versus Mark, who finds shows like that daunting. He won't watch anything with a lot of seasons.
If you're in a position of leadership, these kind of fundamental differences are absolutely critical to understand. Your approach with each of your team members has to be different. You have to meet people where they're at: to understand them, to motivate them, and to ultimately help them to set and achieve their goals.
