Maniac, a shadowy figure who terrorized the city of Tolyatti and its surrounding areas between 1982
and 1986. Operating under the veil of darkness, the Volga Maniac preyed on young women, leaving a
trail of fear and despair in his wake. His crimes, motivated by a twisted blend of sadism and
misogyny, involved the rape, torture, and murder of at least 36 women, though he is suspected of
being responsible for many more.
