Luis Alfredo Garavito Cubillos was a Colombian serial killer, rapist, and pedophile who sexually assaulted and murdered at least 172 young boys and men between 1992 and 1999 in Colombia. He is considered one of the most prolific serial killers in modern history. Garavito was motivated by a desire for power and control, and he often tortured his victims before killing them. He was eventually caught and convicted in 1999 and sentenced to 1,800 years in prison. He died in prison in 2023.
