Pío Baroja (San Sebastián, 1872-Madrid, 1956), miembro de la generación del 98, es el autor de algunas de las novelas esenciales de nuestra literatura. 'Mala hierba' (1904) es la segunda parte de la trilogía 'La lucha por la vida'.
