Even if the media landscape has changed significantly, it has remained mostly unchanged. The criticism of the Pack that a TV newsreader says, "They are ambitious and committed, and many of them have real talent," is still relevant today. "Brats" discusses the politics of John Hughes movies, but it skips over the Pack's internal politics. It omits, for instance, the way Michael Dukakis, at the height of his Brat Pack popularity, was worked on the 1988 U.S. Presidential campaign trail by Mr. Lowe and others, and how the actor fiercely rejected the designation as a barrier to the important business.
