This time, Gru and his family are required to enroll in the Witness Protection Program after their new adversary Maxime Le Mal breaks free from jail and vows to get retribution by stealing Gru Jr., the youngest family member in Soap2Day Movies. Even though Gru Jr. is a former employee of Gru's and essentially exists to make Gru's life miserable, this might not be such a bad thing in the long run because the man is such a proud father that there's little doubt he will eventually face off against Maxime. Before that, there are quite a few tiny sub narratives that are touched upon but then swiftly left behind, as if both authors Mike White and Ken Daurio and filmmakers Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage.
