Topic: BLOODLINE PATTERNS!
Memory Verse: So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith. (Galatians 3:9 NLT)
Bible Text: Leviticus 17:11 NLT
11. For the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
INSPIRATION: Today, we're starting a new and exciting series titled, "Bloodline Patterns," which will run for a couple of days. We shall be looking at some critical features in the life of Abraham that ran through his lineage. The aim is to help us compare and contrast these features with our own family bloodline, with a view to drawing some important lessons that would help us to prayerfully shape our future and walk with God.
For a start, Abraham believed God (Gen 15:6; Rom 4:3; James 2:23). Then, Isaac believed God and acted in faith (Heb. 11:20-21); Isaac also believed God and prayed for his barren wife (Gen. 25:21). Then Jocob heard God and named the place Bethel (Gen. 35:15). These patterns are not just coincidental. There are no coincidences with God. You either walk in faith or in unbelief, and the end results of each of these walk defines our outcome.
Abraham's faith transcends generations, and I believe he handed same to Isaac as a tradition, which was also passed on to Jacob. What's the predominant bloodline pattern that has shaped your walk with God and aspirations in life? What are some notable and traceable bloodline patterns in your family that are manifest in your life and helping to shape outcomes? Are they negative or positive, and they things you may want to reinforce or discard if need be?
TODAY'S TAKE HOME:
Bloodlines often determine our trajectory in life. Paying keen attention to key bloodline patterns, either of family or a sect you belong to, may be the deciding matrix around which your life revolves. Then, you can cultivate a noticeable pattern you desire or break free from one you disapprove of. Therefore pay attention, and with it, dare to believe like faithful Abraham.
PRAYER: O Lord, help me to keenly pay attention to reoccurring family patterns by which my life is shaped, and give me the grace to change the bad ones while sustaining the good ones, in Jesus's name.
