Topic: BLOODLINE PATTERNS - INVESTMENTS (Part 6)!
Memory Verse: They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham - John 8:39 NKJV
Bible Text: Leviticus 17:11 NLT
11. For the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
INSPIRATION: Today's edition on this series, focuses on Abraham's business investments; Isaac's redigging the wells, and sowing in the land; Jacob's streak and spotted animals; and Joseph's business idea. The bible records, "Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold" (Gen.13:2). You don't become "rich" unless you're a wise business investor. That's why the bible says, "Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him" (Gen 26:12).
To sow is to invest; it is to do business with your seed. Jacob on the other hand, put in 14yrs of investment to get married, and developed an agricultural business model of rearing streak and spotted animals (Gen.30:39) that is still in use today. Many of us cannot differentiate between our seeds and our harvests; we do not understand the dynamics and importance of investments. We would rather consume our seeds and hope, mostly in vain, as if hope is a business strategy.
Joseph models the seed and harvest dichotomy in his wise counsel to Pharaoh (Gen.41:33-36). He invested the excess harvest wisely so Egypt had supplies for the next 7yrs. He traded grains for money and increased Pharaoh's capital. There must be something about investments that transferred from Abraham to his bloodline that's beyond the covenant. That's why Isaac could ask about the lamb for the sacrifice (Gen.22:7), and could dig the wells again (Gen.26:18). Is there any positive family traits that have been passed on to you? How have you handled it?
TODAY'S TAKE HOME:
Do no make assumptions in business and life's investments. Take investment's lessons from those who've gone ahead of you and made a slice of success in the various fields where your interests lie. Do not become a prodigious investment liability to God for all He has freely made available to you.
PRAYER: O Lord, please help me to be a wise investor of the deposits of graces I've been endowed with. Teach me how not to be prodigal but to multiply my seeds into profitable investment streams, in Jesus name, Amen.
