Jesus's teaching on prayer introduces us first to the concept and importance of worship. When we get in the mood to pray, we must realise who God is, and be inspired to see the glory of His name become the centre of our lives and attention. Effective prayer is not a function of eloquence but your ability to touch the heart of God in true worship. If your prayer lacks this essential part, you might not have truly prayed.
Do not mistake worship only to singing solemn songs. For a believer, everything we do in life is supposed to bring glory to God and point others towards him. Prayer is subjecting your will to God's will, same way worship is a proclamation of who God is. If you don't recognise him for who He is, your prayer may not come in form of a true worship, but a grudging demand!
Who is God to you really? How has your knowledge of whom He is impacted on how you approach before Him. Acting holy or pious before Him is self-defeating as He already knows the state of your heart. When we approach before God as a prayer answering God, but fail to recognise Him as our Beloved Heavenly Father, our view of Him is tilted towards a need-satisfying base, and no true worship can come from such.
