It is rare or impossible to find someone who's in shame glow with radiance. Shame stripes us of every glory and dignity we have, takes away our voices and leaves us bowed in defeat. Shame will question the legitimacy of our faith, deflate our hopes and puncture our beliefs, until we start seeing ourselves as not being good enough for anything. Shames could literally stripe us naked for public disgrace!
It is against very backdrop, when critically examined, that the Psalmist presents this unique contrast: "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. The operating phrase is 'look to him.' As long as Peter looked to Jesus, he walked on water and couldn't sink. Lots of us are sinking today because our gaze wandered away. The intent and intensity of your gaze, determines the revelation you catch and how it removes your reproach.
Elijah told Elisha, "You've asked a very hard thing, but if you see me being taken away, it shall be yours." You can't see God's glory where your focus is in misalignment; you can't radiate the glory you've not beheld (2 Cor. 3: 18). You want your face to light up with radiance, look to Him. The glory that comes from what you see in Christ will burn off every veil or garment of shame. Hallelujah!
