Topic: IDENTITY & BEHAVIOURAL ETIQUETTE (Part 4)!
Memory Verse: "But if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth" - 1Timothy 3:15 NKJV
Bible Text: Leviticus 18:2-3 NKJV
2. “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God.
3. According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.
INSPIRATION: Professionals in certain categories of human endeavour have their language or professional jargon by which they communicate and express meaning. Sometimes, it only takes an insider and fellow profession to decode what they say. As it is with speaking, so it is with dressing in those fields. Unless you speak the language and dress the part, you cannot function effectively. You now belong to a sect that defines the parameters of your language usage and dress code. You can no longer use profane, obscene and uncouth verbiage. Never. Your words must be filled with grace and seasoned with salt (Col. 4: 6).
As a professional, there're codes of ethics that guide your profession. A violation may attract sanctions, depending on the degree or severity of violation. Some cases attract a revocation of operating licence. This tells us the seriousness of our identity and our behavioral etiquette. You cannot pick and choose how you behave; it is laid down for you. Just as a prince or princess learns the etiquette of royalty, you've a lot of learning, relearning and unlearning to do and adopt.
Talking about sanctions, you could also be penalised for fragrant violations of rule that govern your operating system. "He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him" (Eccl. 10:8). Whenever violations on your ethics occur, you break the hedge. It's high time you understood you ain't ordinary or accidental; it's time to take your identity seriously and not act like every other person out there (Lev. 18: 3).
TODAY'S TAKE HOME:
Upholding the mindset of your past or the traditions of your future may not align with God's plans for bringing you into the new experiences. Rather than assume, find out His agenda for the new you and follow its prescription to the latter.
PRAYER: O Lord, .please give me clarity of understanding into what is required of me in my new experiences and give me the grace to follow through on them, in Jesus name.
