The King James version renders Psalm 5: 12 thus: "For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield." Going by dictionary definition, a shield is anything that protects or defends; a shelter. It is a broad piece of defensive armor, carried on the arm, to protect the body. When used figuratively, it is anyone who protects or defends. The Psalmist defines favour as a shield. How so? You might ask! The force of favour extends benevolence to others that serves as protection against the harsh severity of life. Favour is defensive!
One wonderful way God blesses his people is by using his favor to wrap around each one and covering them under his canopy of kindness and joy" (Ps. 5:12 TPT). When God's favour wraps around you, you cannot be disadvantaged or left to lack. Favour becomes your pass code that opens God's abundance in resources (human, financial, material, mental, etc) to you. Favour pulls you from that backside to the front, and pulls you away from wherever or whatever could cause you harm. Favour prequalifies you for what you originally doesn't deserve!
Favour is a spiritual force that activates possibilities, blessings and protection. Seek favour with God and man.
