A songwriter sang, "Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it would surprise you what the Lord has done." One very significant blessing we so often ignore, is the blessing of divine leading, that we sometimes consider or attribute to us being too self-aware, too calculating or our ability to pay attention to details. In all such instances, we fail to realise that others with similar attributes, got into big troubles where we escaped. The voice of God's leading helps us navigate choices in closing favourable deals.
Isaiah points us straight to God's leading, regardless of where we turn. This leading offers us a resting place in his luxurious love, the Psalmist says, because His tracks will always take us to oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss. In other words, God leads us where the pasture is green so we can be nourished to flourish. We must understand the rigors of searching for green grass in the desert. His leading takes us beside still waters; places where the opening is a breakthrough indeed! Still waters refers also to blessings that are not fleeting or too fast. It aligns and is tailored to my pace and ability to grasp; it is not competitive where I could be outsmarted or subverted.
