Description

Whenever we want to know what we look like, we take a look at a mirror or examine what we do. The mirror gives us a splitting image of ourselves and what we do defines our nature, character or intrinsic wiring. The word of God is the mirror of our soul, and it defines how bests our lives are to be conducted. It introduces us to whom we are, but more importantly, to whom we should become. Jeremiah is a case study: before you were formed, God had already determined who you should be and defined the scope around you.

Now, here are a few introductions about you that should encourage you, "You're fearfully and wonderfully made" (Ps. 139: 14); "you're the head and not the tail" (Deu. 28: 13); "you're the salt of the earth and light of the world" (Matt. 5: 13-14); "you're the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5: 21); "you're the apple of God's eye (Ps. 17: 8); etc. The point is, these should motivate you to live up to the billing of whom God's word defines you as. You can't be the head but keep putting up 'tail' attitude! You can't be wonderfully made and everything about you is the opposite of a wonder; you can't be salt and not preserve and give good taste!
