Annyeonghaseyo! Is that beer can opening? Why yes it is… Hite Zero! Cass Zero and Heineken Zero too! Back in the So of Ko and tbh, this is the first time I’ve actually travelled through the city. Rainy and cold-ish, but not overbearing, ie, not so much that we didn’t want to move. As long as we kept moving, we were fine. And if there was no wind. Gyeongbokgung Palace (景福宫) for the day even as it rained as well as the Korea National Folk Museum. Myeongdong area for the stay, busy busy there as it’s some sort of “festival” going on. Maybe it’s just the night market. How was getting into South Korea? Easy enough, just took a while to get through passport control. And we had trouble navigating with the APPs because Google Maps wouldn’t show us the Korean and so we had English or Chinese to work with. I did get a morning jog in before, but it was still difficult to get up. Got up somewhere around 5.30, but didn’t get out of bed until 6.30 or so. Thirty minute job around Myeongdong area. Overall impressions so far? Grit and grime, poverty is visible, and there are a few memorials around the City Hall area, for the Itaewon Halloween crush that happened as well as a memorial for those who died from the vaccinations, I think. But the city is popping, lots of tourists and despite all my preparation to speak Korean… A LOT of people speak Chinese! Tomorrow might be heavier rain so we’ll see if it’s a museum day or if we brave yet another excursion. Namsan Tower possibly on Wednesday before relocating to Busan for a couple of days.
