The Book follows two main characters: Lira, a siren known as the "Princes' Bane" who is tasked with killing human princes, and Elian, a prince who is also a notorious siren hunter and pirate captain. Their paths intersect when Elian rescues Lira from drowning after she attempts to steal a prince's heart. The narrative alternates between their perspectives as Lira is taken aboard Elian's ship, the Saad, and they embark on a quest involving ancient artifacts, mythical creatures, and the conflict between their respective kingdoms.
