Season 2 Episode 1 In the season 2 premiere Jayybone returns from spring break to bring you interviews from people who have been dealing with the pandemic right now and how it may affect the work or field they are in. In this edition of the jayypod bonecast you will meet our school guidance counselor and three school teachers all teaching different grades. First up is a second grade local teacher Liz you’ll hear my questions i have for her and catch up on what’s been going on during all of this. The pop culture pod inside of us always throws this question at our guest anything good you’ve been watching televisions movies whatever the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why?, Degrasi or even Riverdale, and thoughts on these representations of schools. we move on to our second interview with Colleen the school guidance counselor and get her take on Covid-19 and what its like in her workplace. We get a background of her and where she comes from along with how she helps the students being in this difficult situation during a pandemic. We also get her input on 13 Reasons Why? and how it can definitely be a tool for teaching but at an appropriate age since it's very difficult to watch. Of course I bring up Degrasi and why should I they are totally in the right when it comes to giving that message at the end of the episode telling people to go call a hotline or check out a website. A great thing Colleen started up during the Covid-19 part of the school year was a forum to make sure the students had a safe space to voice their concerns if any and be able to see how they are doing because they can not be in person and it can get hard when talking about issues they might not want to talk about.One of the hardest things everyone can agree is all of the senior students not being able to graduate or have their senior week or see eachother, we talk about how hard that must have been for her school. With the future unaware it's great to know that our children are in the hands of good guidance like Colleen. Our second Teacher and third guest of the podcast Leah joins us to also discuss the Covid-19 pandemic, being a young teacher, writer, and poet. One of the greatest things i found from my neighbor was the compassionate poems she would post on her social media or through Facebook groups. She used this time as an outlet to start sharing her poems and hopes to accomplish her first published book of poems.Meet our final teacher Shanna she teaches advanced special needs kindergarteners so you can only imagine how that must have been with the way Covid-19 has affected teaching. She also tells us the events of that day they were sent home not knowing they would not return until the end of the school year and how that would be on any teacher. We then talk some classic television on right now like Riverdale, Degrasi, and 13 Reasons Why and if anything is relatable in the classroom or can be used as a teaching tool.
