For the people who think that the county doesn’t benefit from the Golf Course, think again.  Over the August 2 weekend, several hundred folks from out of town were here for a Golf Tournament in connection with the Mine.  Now, according to the Tourism and Recreation board, each person from out of town puts an average of $165 per person per night into our economy.  That’s nearly 60 thousand dollars into the county’s economy over the last weekend.  And that doesn’t even account for visitors in town for Arts in the Park!  Our County Commission doesn’t get it.  In a community built on Mining and Agriculture, Tourism is the number two economic driver in White Pine County.  County facilities are major supporters of tourism.  And your failure to understand the reality of the White Pine County economy shows how little you understand about your own jobs.  Your staff is in fear of your performance.  They tell me daily they’re afraid of what you’re going to do next.  And voters should likely be afraid.  Very afraid.
