Description

Just when it seemed the green energy rush might be slowing down, here comes another proposal — a massive solar project right here in White Pine County. White Pine Solar LLC has filed for a Conditional Special Use Permit to build a 350-megawatt solar farm near the old Club 50 site. If you’ve seen the sprawling solar fields north of Jackpot along U.S. 93, you know how industrial and out of place they look. Do we really want that here? Our community already fought off a similar project near the airport, and we’re still battling the Utah developers pushing the enormous — and enormously misguided — White Pine Pumped Storage Project. And now we face yet another threat to our open landscape and rural character. If you care about how our county looks and feels, show up Thursday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Library Conference Room for the Regional Planning Commission meeting and make your voice heard. White Pine County deserves better than another eyesore in the name of “green energy.”
