Over the weekend KELY brought you breaking news and live coverage of the President’s bunker busters taking out Iranian Nuclear Plants. Meanwhile KNPR stayed with programming as usual. Now, Congressman Mark Amodei said that Public Broadcasting was an essential lifeline to our communities, particularly in Rural Nevada. Excuse me for being blunt, but the congressman is spewing what comes out of the south side of a Northbound cow. NPR had its place. But in 2025 Ely has two strong local radio stations. KNPR doesn’t even have a place in Las Vegas. There’s a local station that is much more community-involved. KNPR toes the party line from DC and the Democrat party. Let them hustle up commercials and not go hat in hand to the Feds for funding. For a national entity to compete with and put local voices out of business is just wrong.
