Description

Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, a notorious figure in the world of organized crime, rose to infamy as the ruthless underboss of the Gambino crime family, one of the most powerful Mafia organizations in New York. Born Salvatore Gravano in 1945 in Brooklyn, New York, Sammy's journey into the criminal underworld began at a young age. Starting as a street-level thug, he quickly gained a reputation for his violent tendencies and loyalty, catching the attention of Mafia higher-ups. Gravano’s career took a significant turn when he became a key figure in the Gambino family under the leadership of John Gotti. He played an instrumental role in the assassination of Paul Castellano, which paved the way for Gotti to take control of the family. However, Gravano’s legacy took a shocking twist when he turned informant, cooperating with the FBI in the early 1990s and providing testimony that helped bring down Gotti and dozens of other Mafia members. In exchange for his cooperation, Gravano entered the witness protection program, though he later left and returned to a life of crime, eventually serving time in prison again. His story is one of power, betrayal, and survival in the violent and treacherous world of the Mafia, and remains a subject of fascination for true crime enthusiasts.
