Description

Welcome to Helping The Brave, a 30-minute podcast hosted by veterans Ed Parcaut and Amy Tiemeyer, where we provide a supportive space for veterans to share their experiences and offer practical advice and resources to navigate post-military life. In this episode, we're honored to feature Ron Self, a highly decorated veteran who served in Special Operations in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years before finding himself serving 23 years in prison. While incarcerated in San Quentin, Ron founded Veterans Healing Veterans from the Inside Out in 2012, a program that has received three grants in the last three years from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to replicate the program at San Quentin. Veterans Healing Veterans is directly responsible for the creation of the veterans yard model at Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, CA, which will be the central hub. Despite the challenges he faced, Ron also earned a Ph.D. in Behavioral Studies from Quantico while in the Marine Corps, a testament to his resilience and determination. If you're a veteran looking for inspiration and guidance on your own journey, tune in to hear Ron's story and learn from his experiences. Join us as we explore the amazing work of Veterans Healing Veterans from the Inside Out with Ron Self on Helping The Brave, only on our podcast hosted by veterans Ed Parcaut and Amy Tietmeyer. #HelpingTheBrave #SpecialOperations #USMarineCorps #VeteranIncarceration #VeteransHealingVeterans #CaliforniaDepartmentOfCorrectionsAndRehabilitation #Resilience #BehavioralStudies #PostMilitaryLife #VeteranCommunity #SupportOurVeterans #VeteranResources #VeteranInspiration #VeteranEmpowerment #MentalHealthAwareness
