On May 24, officers responded to a call regarding a suspect identified as Johnny Balcorda who had an outstanding warrant. The 37-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody.
A homicide investigation is currently underway in the 50 block of Seavey Circle following an incident reported on May 15. Detectives are actively investigating the case, which has been assigned release number 20250515-028.
Another homicide investigation was opened on May 14 (release number 20250514-027). During this investigation, detectives identified 30-year-old Jose Alfredo Cortes as a person of interest. On May 9, officers located Cortes, who had several outstanding unrelated warrants, and took him into custody. Cortes was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for his outstanding warrants. The homicide case has been forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review.
In a related development, detectives have arrested two juvenile males (16 and 17 years old) for a carjacking that occurred shortly after the May 14 shooting. Both suspects were booked at Juvenile Hall for their felony carjacking warrants. This case will also be presented to the District Attorney's office for filing.
