On February 27, officers responded to a stabbing at BJ's Restaurant near Woodland Hills Mall. A 32-year-old male suspect allegedly stabbed the restaurant manager before fleeing. Two teenagers were killed and two others injured in an alleged ambush shooting at Worthington Townhomes near E. 21st St. and S. 117th E. Ave. on March 1 around 1:30 a.m. Arturo Dogollado and Jett Brummett, both 18, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other teens were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Christopher Atjun, 18, was arrested and faces charges of first-degree murder and shooting with intent to kill.
On March 3, police arrested Blake McDonell for allegedly stabbing his boyfriend, John Fender, to death at a residence near 4th and Harvard. McDonell attempted to flee to Paris but was apprehended at a New York airport. He faces murder charges.
