Description

Darryl Haley is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for healthy eating and active lifestyles. His causes are many: supporting veterans and their families; engaging young people with active exploration of the great outdoors, particularly our national and local parks and trails; and, educating everyone within his range about the joys of integrating fitness, music, and culinary delights. He spent six years as a professional football player for the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and Green Bay Packers. After football, Darryl competed in the Ironman Triathlon, the first person weighing over 300 pounds to finish the event. He next took on the role of a health and fitness expert, appearing on a regular radio segment, Fitness Friday, for WHUR in Washington, DC. The show regularly airs as a segment of the Steve Harvey Morning Show. His support of veterans extends to baking for their families and he has launched a summer musical series, Music on the Monument, which brings together musicians and veterans to relax and reconnect, a form of musical therapy. Darryl has traveled the country, visiting national parks, and working with the National Parks Conservation Association (he and his wife are members of their Leadership Council). He has undertaken refurbishing the Carter Barron Amphitheatre in DC’s Rock Creek Park, hosting musicals to benefit that cause and to assist with trail maintenance. He is inspired to connect others with nature, healthy lifestyles, healing influences, and the power of laughter and a smile to bless and uplift the human spirit.
