Description

Jennie DeSerio is an Arkansas mother and passionate advocate for children’s online safety, driven by the tragic loss of her 16-year-old son, Mason Edens, who died by suicide in 2022. Believing TikTok’s algorithm exposed Mason to harmful content that contributed to his death, Jennie has become a leading voice in the fight for stronger digital protections. She is a key supporter of Mason’s Bill, federal legislation aimed at holding social media companies accountable for harmful content by reforming Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act.

Through her work with the Social Media Victims Law Center and Parents for Safe Online Spaces, Jennie pushes for policies like the Kids Online Safety Act to enhance platform accountability and protect minors from dangerous algorithms. Her advocacy, recognized by the 2024 Arkansas Woman of Distinction award, inspires families nationwide to demand safer online environments for children. As a guest on In The Arena with Mindy McAlindon, Jennie shares her powerful story and mission to prevent other families from experiencing similar heartbreak.

Mindy McAlindon represents Arkansans in the10th House district. She continues to fight for parental empowerment, strong schools, lower taxes and securing Arkansas' quality of life. In 2023, she was awarded the Legislator of the Year award by ALEC and in 2024 she received the National Consumer Champion award by Consumers’ Research for her bills protecting state pensions.

Outside of politics, Mindy is a Vanderbilt and Indiana University alum who works as a Brand and Marketing Strategist. Mindy resides in Benton County, AR with her husband and their four children.
