In a crumbling seaside village where the wind wails like a mourning mother and the sea swallows all secrets, a poor fisherman snags a monstrous, golden-eyed flounder on his hook.
When the fish proclaims itself as a cursed prince, the man sets it free and returns home. His wife—bitter and half-mad from years of poverty—demands that he return and get something in exchange for sparing the fish. A bigger home. A kingdom. A god’s throne. But the sea is ancient and hungry, and wishes come with weights.
