Kimber Lanning is the Director and Founder of Local First Arizona. Local First is dedicated to local businesses and people that are loyal to supporting them. If residents of every state, county and municipality would undertake a 10% shift in their buying habits it would go a long way to balancing budgets, creating jobs and lowering taxes. The major national chains, be they restaurants, grocery outlets or finacial institutions send a large percentage of the revenue they generate out of the state they do business in. If, as an example, you wou buy from a local business just one of ten visits in that catagory, you could effect a major change in the revenue that stays in your state or municipality. When you go to dinner, make the 10% Shift and 1 of 10 dinner outings chose a locally owned restaurant. Do the same with grocers. Move 10% of your money to a local bank or credit union. Buy goods and services from local merchants just 10% of the time and you support this movement to keep revenus in your local market. Listen to Kimber as she tells us how it all got started and where the Local First movement is headed and what you can do to suppoort it and how you can pressure your representatives to change the buying habits of the state.
