On this week's episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz tell the mysterious and heartbreaking story of a little girl who simply vanished. In July of 1973, Janice Pockett was 7 years old and living with her family in Tolland, Connecticut. On this fateful day, she took her first ever solo bike ride with the intention of collecting a dead butterfly she had stashed in the woods a few days prior. When Janice didn't return, her family went to find her, only to discover her bike abandoned and facing towards her home. An extensive search of over 800 people ended with no evidence, and 49 years later, Janice has not been found. There were 2 possible suspects in her disappearance, however they were never charged and died before they could be officially questioned. Anyone with any information on the disappearance of Janice Pockett is asked to please call Detective Jennilee Dicocco at (860) 896-3243 or the Eastern District Major Crime Squad at (860) 896-3230.
