Description

The story revolves around a gathering of seven individuals in a dimly lit, isolated room within the city of Ptolemais, amidst a year plagued by pestilence and odd celestial phenomena. The narrative conveys a pervasive sense of unease and dread, embodying the heightened awareness and suspended rational thought of the characters as they engage in seemingly merry revelry, yet amidst them lies a lifeless young man named Zoilus, affected by the plague. As they drink and engage in nervous laughter, their surroundings grow ominous, intensified by the presence of Zoilus and the memory of past terrors. This eerie setting leads to the emergence of a mysterious shadow, which neither resembles any creature of the known world nor seems to have a definite form. The shadow ultimately declares itself to be SHADOW, claiming a dwelling near the catacombs, and its voice channels the familiar tones of countless deceased friends, instilling deep fear among the company. The story blurs the boundaries between life and death, material and spiritual realms, culminating in a chilling encounter with the incomprehensible essence of shadow and decay.
