Description

This week an Atheist and a Protestant walk into a movie review about the Catholic Church in Conclave, which follows a cardinal's crisis of faith during the papal conclave that seeks to elect the next Pope and will decide the future of the Church. The movie is directed by Edward Berger and stars Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and Isabella Rossellini.

Having solved racism in last week's review, we now tackle religion and discuss politics and messaging in movies, the controversy surrounding the movie's ending and how most discussions and reviews of Conclave are more a proxy for the critic's personal politics than the actual movie itself, and how the movie manages to have some of the most nuanced political drama we've seen all year, right up until the end when it's time for a simplistic message.
