Description

This week we review and discuss The Count of Monte Cristo directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière and starring Pierre Niney, Bastien Bouillon and Pierfrancesco Lafitte. It is the 287th adaptation of the classic French novel about justice, revenge and redemption that follows a French noble wrongly imprisoned for treason, who escapes his imprisonment and then plots revenge against those who betrayed him under the assumed identity of the Count of Monte Christo.

We discuss how this newest attempt to adapt the classic story comes across to someone who is not familiar with the original story, the movie's overall plotting that tries to condense a very complex story into 3 hours, what the movie has in common with Game of Thrones and why it's secretly a heist movie, and much more.
