To speak hypothetically means to base a statement on a hypothesis or a proposed situation, sometimes for the sake of reasoning some humorous responses to a hypothetical from another person. Sometimes maybe even while they are in an altered state? In simpler terms, it's like saying 'what if' and creating a scenario to support an idea that just might illicit fun or funny dialogue between two or more people. Now, I have to say that whenever I happen to be alongside the legendary businessman, Joey K, it is always a consideration for me to bring along some hypotheticals for him to digest.
