It’s fascinating how quickly people prepare when they hear about a storm on the horizon. A hurricane warning, a tornado watch — and people rush to the stores, stock up on water, flashlights, canned goods, batteries, and anything else they think they might need. They board up their homes, gas up their cars, and prepare for the worst.Yet, when it comes to the condition of their soul, many people remain completely unbothered. There’s no sense of urgency, no preparation, no concern about the state of their relationship with God. They care more about surviving a temporary storm than securing their eternity.Jesus rebuked this kind of mindset in Matthew 16:2-3:“When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.”
