In Galatians chapter one, Paul makes a bold and necessary defense of his apostleship. The Galatians were being misled by false teachers, and Paul needed to re-establish his authority, not for his own sake, but for the preservation of the true gospel. His claim to authority rested on a simple truth: his message came directly from Jesus Christ. It was not taught to him by any man.
