'Music - A Serious Matter' for the hundredth time! This time, I devoted my full attention to opera—that is, music and drama, poetry and movement—all elements rolled into one. The program for the hundredth broadcast included excerpts from Handel's 'Rinaldo' (Cecilia Bartoli), Vivaldi's 'La verita in cimento' (Philippe Jaroussky), Graun's 'Cesare e Cleopatra', a large selection of excerpts from Mozart's 'Die Zauberflote' (including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Francisco Araiza, Sumi Jo, Edyta Gruberova, Mikael Melbye), and the opening excerpts from Mascagni's 'Cavalleria Rusticana' (Carlo Bergonzi). I invite you to listen, like, and comment.
