After losing his fortune in a stock market scam, Engineer Sherif Hafez killed his wife and children, claiming he wanted to spare them from financial ruin. Despite widespread public sympathy and support from his family, he requested his own execution. Hafez later died in prison shortly after receiving his sentence.
