Natalia and I are back together today discussing two enormous emotions—shame and fear—big topics that we all encounter all of the time in life. Both shame and fear are intrinsic in a survival journey of any kind.I often talk about the culture shifting work Brene Brown has done regarding Shame. She defines Shame as the thing that keeps us in secrecy and isolation. It is so destructive to our healing.I’ve absolutely carried shame around like it was the stuffed animal that made me feel safe. I had so much shame surrounding my husband taking his life. I felt like I should have seen signs, that surely there was a way I could have helped him.I stayed quiet and isolated in those feelings for a long time.I will forever be on repeat when I say, sharing the shame helps us begin to heal.
