Ravi Chopra is one of the founders of the Indian environmental protection movement and was instrumental in the first Indian study on the state of the environment and nature in India in 1982. The Peoples Science Institute in Dehradun was founded in 1988 and is an NGO in the field of poverty alleviation, environmental protection water- and resource management. The interview with Ravi Chopra focusses on deforestation, water management and road construction in the Indian Himalayas.
