Proverbs 24:3Wise people are builders —they build families, businesses, communities. And through intelligence and insight their enterprises are established and endure.Proverbs Daily is a reader and listener supported program. Thanks in advance! If you’re tuning in to my Proverbs Dailies, you’ve probably noticed I use This new translation that just dropped in 2017 called The Passion Translation a lot. I promise—I’m not a spokesman for the PT (shout out to Brian Simmons). But as an emcee I just love how they lean into the poetic flow of sacred text. And when you look at how they lay this verse out: it’s so plain. Wise people build. More than they break. They set up more than they tear down. And what they build–outlives them. That’s Proverbs 24:3 in a nutshell.I got a friend who, let's say, is more politically conservative than me. He calls me after last week’s episode on Proverbs 20:13 called ‘Stay Woke’. He said something simple but so wise: “Most of us want the same for our country. We just see different paths to getting there.”And I thought—exactly! Politics is often about the how of getting to a desired end. I joked, “Like they say, making laws is like making sausage—you might not want to be in the room when it’s happening.” But then I added, “Unless you learn to build a stomach for it.”The truth is, we have to learn how to get in the room and see how the sausage or the policies are being cut up and scrapped together and packaged with that extra seasoning, making us believe that some ‘Big Beautiful Policy’ is something that'll help us or hurt us!This is where Proverbs 24:3 hits so good: being a builder is messy. Sometimes you tear down things first. Old systems. Broken habits. Bad policies. Then you rebuild smart. With wisdom. With insight. So what you create lasts for generationsAnd it’s not just nations. The script said that wise people have a track record. Look at their families, their businesses, their communities. The same MO follows everything they do. Want a good leader for a nation? Look for someone who can lead her family. Want a business that thrives? Find that guy that’s great at preserving a culture that lasts, not just a profit margin. Really want communities that flourish? They start with people willing to invest in long-term structures, in safe relationships, in wholesome values. So whether you're Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative or somewhere in between: the call here is to build. Build something that matters to those who will come after you. Something that is established and endures and hopefully, something that makes heaven smile.Remember: Wisdom builds what lasts—not just what impresses.🙏🏽 PrayerGod, give me wisdom to build right, endure, and thrive.💡 Today’s Challenge:Build someone up! Before the day ends be sure to say something or do something for someone that leaves them feeling bigger, looking better and lasting longer in this game called life. Make it tangible.
