Who or what instructs the body to reset, replenish, and rebuild? If you’re a Marvel fan like me, you might immediately think of Wolverine—the X-Man with instant healing powers. Slash him, shoot him, drop him off a cliff—he bounces back, ready to fight again. That’s fiction, of course. But even in real life, the body is doing something remarkable when it heals.Cells communicate. Hormones fire. Enzymes are released. Signals are sent. And over time—sometimes slowly, sometimes miraculously—the wound closes, the break knits, the system stabilizes. It’s like the body knows it was made for restoration. Healing is the return to rightness. And here’s the wild part—kindness plays a role in that same healing process.🌿 Science Says Kindness Helps YouKindness is more than just good gestures—it’s a purposeful pattern that rewires your body. Check out this science of kindness:* Acts of kindness trigger oxytocin, which is the “love hormone.” It lowers blood pressure, builds trust, and reduces stress PMC+15Cedars-Sinai+15Utah State University Extension+15.* You also get a helper’s high—a boost of dopamine and serotonin that lights up your pleasure centers SSM Health+9Cedars-Sinai+9Utah State University Extension+9.* Kindness can even release endorphins and lower cortisol, reducing inflammation and protecting your heart Wikipedia+9Random Acts of Kindness+9pattersonhc.org+9.* More oxytocin = better immune function, longer life, and stronger social bonds MIBlueDaily+15Random Acts of Kindness+15The Be Kind People Project+15.The takeaway? Being kind doesn’t just bless others. It balances you. It benefits you. It kick starts your own healing.Proverbs 11:17 puts it plainly: “A kind person benefits herself…”When kindness becomes your orientation—when service is your center—you’re living in your correct rhythm. That’s your equilibrium.Kindness isn’t weakness. It’s alignment with your original design. But what about the other half of the verse is: “A cruel person brings himself trouble.”Cruelty comes from misalignment—a life bent inward. And because of that bend, pain and trouble follow. Not as punishment, but as a pattern. The ruthless person doesn’t understand why chaos keeps circling back. But scripture says: They’re bringing it on themselves.👑 Think about Kindness as Kingdom CurrencyKindness is currency of the Kingdom…Or like I’ve lately been liking to call it, “The Kin-dom” .There’s no price tag on the payoff, no scorecard, no external reward required. Kindness is the reward. It centers you. It restores you. It opens the door for deeper connection with others, and ultimately with God.You may never see the ripple effect of your kindness—but you will feel its echo in your spirit.Remember:You don’t show kindness just for someone else’s sake… You show it for your own. Because kindness heals you first. So take the benefit. You’ve earned it.Prayer I choose to be kind today. Help me help others.🎯 Today’s ChallengeBe kind on purpose today. Don’t wait for the right moment—make the moment right. Serve, speak, give, or forgive. And notice what happens in you when you do. Because helping heals the helper.About the AuthorFred Lynch is a creative communicator, author, and Christian Hip Hop pioneer.
